32nd AGM held on 24th Feb, 2024.
The AGM was exciting more than ever before: WHY
- As it is the tradition, all our AGM’S start with celebration of Eucharist. The Mass was characterized with a very strong homily message i.e. How the 2nd World War demolished Germany social and economic structures. However, today Germany is now the strongest economy in Europe. The presiding Fr. Chris Kioko wanted to give hope that when you undergo major setbacks in life, they prepare you for even a more robust and hopeful future. Therefore, despite the major socio-economic challenges from the period of COVID -19, politics and high cost of living, we should not give up. Rather we should become even more stronger to save more, borrow wisely and pay promptly to grow our self-help to greater heights.
- Launch of a new strategic plan 2024-2028.
A very ambitious strategic plan for five years was unveiled to the members. The major milestones include 6 strategic objectives:
- Growth in membership to 2000 members by 2028 and retain 75% for the existing.
- Increase use of ICT.
- Increase uptake of savings and loan products.
- Enhanced governance and strengthening the internal process.
- Improve Risk Management and compliance.
- Foster environmental conservation initiatives.
- Use of technology to distribute dividends. This year our members went home smiling after the members resolved on distribution of surplus, a key was pressed from Caritas Microfinance Bank. Every member that qualified for divided received it instantly. The members applauded the system and all agreed: “THIS IS THE WAY TO GO”
- Elections to fill 2 vacant positions. It is the practice that every year a few members of management retire bit rotation. This gives a chance to other members to take up leadership position. Ann Wanjiru Nganga (who served diligently as treasurer) and Samuel Ngure Mburu (very proactive especially on liturgy) retired after serving for 9 years. We appreciate their effort and passion for their selfless service. The Lord’s farm yard is always rich. Our succession plan was very fruitful. We got 2 skilled and seasonal leaders who expressed interest to serve in the Management Committee. Richard Muhoro is an immediate former Githiga Parish Moderator. He brings in skilled and a well-orchestrated network. Indeed, very necessary for our growth. Salome Wanjiku is a long serving leader in our church & community in various capacities. Currently a very devoted Liturgical Leader in our church. Her skills and devotion will also bring in new positive dynamics in our group.
- Enlargement of our office space. Members also enthusictically passed a budget to face lift our our office premises to become more modern and spacious. This will create as more conducive working environment of the staff management committee and the members. This is being implemented in Q2. Members will be welcome to utilize the office space by May 2024.
Given the milestones we intended to undertake, we welcome all members, existing and new, to support us to achieve our goals and objectives. Be assured that you continue getting loans as convenient as possible and returns will even be better.
